SOMETHING CATCHY KOKANEE DERBY

Rules

The Derby Committee can officially register you anytime Friday and you would still be eligible for any cash and/or prizes.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A DERBY WRISTBAND (i.e. lost, forgot, left in boat, etc.) YOU WILL NOT BE ISSUED A DUPLICATE AND CANNOT WEIGH ANY FISH.  Phone number or a ticket WILL NOT be issued.  All tickets must be purchased in person.

All participants must fish according to all applicable Washington State laws and Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Regulations.  Any infractions to the laws or regulations will result in disqualification from the derby.  Any on-the-water violations will also result in disqualification from the derby.  We want everyone to be safe and have fun.  Safety is our #1 priority. 

Everyone in any boat fishing the derby MUST have a derby ISSUED wristband.  If anyone in the boat is entered in the derby with a valid wristband, then everyone in the boat must have a derby wristband.  Any violation will result in not having any fish from that boat allowed to be weighed.  Your boat must have an approved marker flag visible to any and all Derby Marshalls.

Official Derby Fishing times: Saturday 6:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 6:00 am to 12:00 pm

All Kokanee entries must be caught on Lake Chelan.

Official derby weigh-in station times:  Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 12:30 pm

Participants must be checked in at the weigh-in station by the deadlines:  Saturday 5:00 pm and Sunday 12:30 pm.  The Derby Committee may change the weigh-in station times depending on the number of participants limiting out early and/or the length of the lines as the closing deadline approaches.  Participants who have checked in, WILL NOT be penalized if the deadline passes before their fish are weighed.  Please feel free to call Jason Williams at             (509) 885-6920 to see if there have been any time changes.

To certify each Kokanee, each participant must present their derby wristband and Kokanee to the weigh-in station’s Weigh Masters.  There will be two weigh-in stations located at the LAKE CHELAN STATE PARK.  All Kokanee weighed will be marked by a hole punch in a fin or cut tail fin.

All derby fish may be inspected at the time of weigh-in by Washington State Biologists and Derby Officials.  All fish may be subject to dissection.

Participants observing violations of the derby rules should immediately report to Derby Officials.  Violators will be disqualified from the derby and could be barred from future competitions.  Derby Officials may be contacted at  (509) 885-6920 or can be reported at the weigh-in station.  Any false reporting will also disqualify THAT participant from derby.  WDFW Agents and Derby Officials will be on the water during the Derby.

Each derby participant may weigh-in the WDFW limit for Kokanee per day (10) for the Total Weight or Team Average Total Weight.  Scoring will be by weight and length.  Weight will be the initial factor and scored to the .01 lb. (ie:  25.06 lb).  The length will be the first tie breaker.  The length will be measured from the snout to the V-notch in the tail.  Scoring will be to the 1/16”. 

All Kokanee MUST be fresh-caught by legal sport fishing rules.  NO Gill or Dip-Netted or Foul-Hooked Kokanee may be entered.  Any evidence of netting, spoilage, frozen or foul–hooked Kokanee will disqualify the participant from the derby.  The Derby Committee shall have the final word on any and all disputes regarding derby rules, disqualifications and the awarding of prizes.  ALL DERBY COMMITTEE DECISIONS ARE FINAL!

Award presentations and raffle drawings will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the LAKE CHELAN STATE PARK.  All prizes must be collected at the awards presentation, by the ticket holder, unless prior arrangements are made with the Derby Committee.

The derby WILL NOT be cancelled due to inclement weather.

There is a MANDATORY captains meeting.  The date and place are yet to be determined, but will start at 7:00 pm. If you are unable to attend, you need to make prior arrangements by calling Jason at (509) 885-6920. Derby tickets can also be purchased at the meeting.

NOTICE Something Catchy, Jason Williams, nor its volunteers, nor any of the Sponsors accept any responsibility for loss, damage or injury to any vehicle, vessel, boat, equipment, participant, passengers, guests or observers during this event.  By purchasing a derby ticket or volunteering in any capacity, you release and discharge Something Catchy and its volunteers, Lake Chelan State Park, The Chamber of Commerce and its members, the Sponsors and all their associated affiliates and employees, for any and all judgments and/or claims from any cause whatsoever that may be suffered by a participant to his/her person and/or property.

Derby Official.
